The port in the rear of the carb is plugged.
Big cam 350 edelbrock full#
Otherwise it seems to run fantastic.Īlso - again from my reading - I now have the vacuum advance on the distributor hooked into the full time vacuum port on the carb (on the Holley I had it on the ported side) and the ported side plugged. My mechanic told me it sounded to him like the cause of this was the intial timing is too advanced, but from what I've read, with the really choppy cam, I should be something like 16 degrees or better on initial? I did notice it will bog (pretty bad occassionally) if I am going pretty fast, come to a quick stop, then get on it again, but if I am stiff on the pedal and don't feather it, it's almost not noticeable. The motor cranks like the battery is almost dead, but once started voltage is good, and I have to work the accelrator pretty good to get it going.

Ran super rich.įrom the get-go the Edelbrock had almost no bog, but it seems a hell of a lot harder to start it once the engine is hot. It was a loaner so I didn't fool any with it. The Holley had a bad bog under light acceleration when pulling out or pulling away from a stoplight. Just changed out a rebuilt Holley 650 for the Edelbrock 1407 750 w/manual choke. Haven't fiddled with the springs in the dist.

Sorry for the long post but I want to lay it out in detail.ģ50 sb, Edelbrock Performer heads/intake, pretty radical cam (don't have specs at hand), 160 degree thermostat, rebuilt TH350, all new fuel lines, pump, tank, sending unit. I've read several threads on here and on different forums but wanted to lay out my specific issues, as I'm new to fooling with carbs and want to learn.
